Bullet Inspection
Lab-Robot Bullet inspection Technology
|
The characterization technology of the Lab-robot Bullet Inspection system is based on Microptik proprietary Mesoscopy technology. The technique uses a LED pattern projected over a small object and build extremely detailed 3D models by merging stereo data to one unique fingerprint of the object. The 3D models can be used to acquire critical parameters to identify and compare samples from databases, making this instrument the fastest and most powerful tool for inspection of “meso” objects. Intergrated in the Lab-robot the technique is fully automated. All functions can be controlled with the propriatory Microptik software - The system consists of a rugged industrial casing - USB3.0 cameras for fast analysis - Automated control fo sample in XYZ - Extremely precise results - Super fast computer windows 7 based - 3D model of results of enhanced feature for comparison - Powerful software for fast automated identification (1 second analysis)

Tailored software for bullet characterization
| Microptik has developed tailored software for this application, with convenient databases and by comparison of the specific marks left in a bullet when fired, Microptik bullet inspection system is the ultimate tool for bullet characterization and matching of the bullet with the weapon that fired it. Some of the unique features of this software are: the auto calibration, pixel resolution enhacement and 2D meassurements, the binarization of the bullet characteristics using mathematical algorithms so bullets can be compared and 3D modeling of all the surface of the bullet using a detector for the projected patern light, |

Software provided to match all characteristics of the bullet with Shell casing characteristics: · Breech markings · Firing Pin Marks · Extracting Pin · Ejector Marks Markings on bullets can be analysed with the highest precision. The markings can be stored in a database and compared with other bullets. The Software allows to compare the grooves that are formed in the firearm barrel with the land impression and gooves of the bullet acquired with the Lab-robot Bullet inspection System. The software facilitates convenient comparison between two bullets fired in the same barrel. |

Microptik Barrel inspection tool kit
Contains a borescope for internal inspection of the barrel, enhaced fiber optic illumination and add-on features on the software. A cross section of a gun barrel will show small grooves or striations all along the lands and grooves. These are created when the barrel is rifled. No two gun barrels have the exact same markings. These markings leave unique striations or impressions on a bullet. This allows a bullet to be raced back to a particular firearm. Microptik provides a complete toolkit to inspect the barrel for characteristics. (i.e. Land and Groove) For small fire-arms the barrel can be positioned in a lab-robot system to allow a high precision borescope to enter the barrel and to acquire all relevant features in the barrel. The Software allows to compare the grooves that are formed in the firearm barrel with the land impression and gooves of the bullet acquired with the Lab-robot Bullet inspection System. The software facilitates convenient comparison between two bullets fired in the same barrel. |
