Oil inspection

Periodic inspection and analysis of lubricants and oils in contact with industrial machines and engines is of vital importance for the maintenance and correct performance of these machines and can save lots of costs from derived decrease of efficiency in production and actual damage or breach of the mechanical unit.
Due to the fact that almost two thirds of machine failures in the industry are lubricant related causing abrasion, fatigue, adhesion and corrosion problems, among others, most of the companies are implanting oil quality inspection systems for what has come to be known as Machine Health Monitoring Analysis
To avoid this lose of efficiency and damage to de machine it is of vital importance to change oil regularly, when after several uses its properties become harmful for the machine. From an economical aspect, changing the lubricant too late will mean cost derived from decrease on performance and eventual maintenance of the machines while changing it before it is needed will generate additional expenses from oil acquisition. The optimum is to change the lube oil at the correct moment by use of an oil inspection system that can asses the properties and the ageing of the lubricant. According to ISO standards (ISO 18436-4) harmful parameters of lube oil are established. As the oil ageing varies from process to process and inside a same process depending on operation conditions and loads, it is highly recommended to incorporate these oil analyzers for periodic lubricant inspection since it will turn out to be cost effective.

At Microptik we have developed two lines of products which are meant to carry out the complete oil analysis in one compact automated system. Three analysis: viscosity, dielectric constant and particle characterization on- or off-line with a friendly and tailored software property of Microptik.

Lab-robot Oil inspection

Lab- robot oil inspection is based on the automation of the analysis process of the oil. Is the ideal configuration for trivector oil quality inspection machine health and monitoring, that combines viscosity measurement, dielectric constant determination and particle size and shape image analysis. It can detect lubricant wear, chemical changes and contaminants in the process line with the help of a flow through cell.

With this three inspections in a single on-process analyzer, the lubricant wear, chemistry and contamination will be assessed saving valuable time according to the ISO 18436-4 Standards and with the ASTM D7416-08 certification to produce the triangular diagram.

BYOS Oil-Eye

Oil eye complete package

oil eye basic

Byos line is based on flexibility and freedom to make oil measurements of the quality of the oil, lubricants or liquids in general. Totally customizable technology using different building blocks, from the most flexible and lowest budget system, with compact design, but best technology available, excellent light conditions and powerful optics to make particle analysis; to more sophisticated configurations. It can be customized according to our customers needs with different cell modules for easier statistical acquisition of data or higher volume of sample, Tri-Vector technology combined together with our renown highly featured Microptik software for image analysis and particle shape and size characterization, until the most complete BYOS system which consists of a graduated cylinder filled with oil, a mass balance, tubing, a microscopic feed through optical sampling cell, a liquid pump and a waste container. In the graduated cylinder a dielectric contstant probe is placed. Through the liquid sampling cell the oil can be inspected on particles nature and characteristics. All in one simple setup, a powerful and easy to use tool for complete characterization of oil.

Microptick oil inspection systems also incorporate different types of high throughput illumination and diffractive glasses so glares, reflections and optical aberrations are suppressed. Back-, front-, coaxial-, ring- and laser light can graduated with the mouse through the user friendly software interface to optimize the inspection conditions.

A flow through cell moved by a peristaltic pump allows dynamic analysis that can be incorporated in to the process for in-line oil quality inspection saving time and money. Self developed software for particle size and shape characterization, customized for this application counts with powerful features to detect moving particles in a flow through cell by both color- and morpho-filters, resulting in a unique technique for determining the particles distribution in the sample.
