Painting inspection
Microptik is in the process to produce a complete new platform for painting and art restoration work. The system facilitates the characterization of any detail of the precious art work and to capture critical to quality parameters which are useful for an expert to carry out the restoration works. The system will generate a complete 3D map of the whole painting with information of each paint layer integrated with virtual layers of analytical data linked to the archaometry of the particular part of the painting. This tool will become the reference for all painting restoration projects. With this system a complete painting is scanned in 3D and all possible relevant data is stored in one huge database.
During restoration works the painting inspection system can be locked and unlocked onto the painting with extreme high accuracy.

Microptik has developed a new technology combining microscopic and surface topographic analysis, to help in tasks of conservation of paintings diagnosis, recognition and characterization of damges, deformations, surface dirt or any other imperfection present in these artworks.
The technology is based on the automation of the process of inspection of paintings. This can be a slow and difficult task with the traditional methods carried out by an operator. In Microptik, we put our knowledge in automation and image analysis fields at serveice of art, to improve this process and make it easier and reliable, using the best hardware and software for this particular application.
The system is customizable with different analysis technologies. The new development uses for preliminar analysis a fast topographic scan of the surface, and then it can perform more in-deep analysis of the areas of interest detected.
Using a low magnification camera, the system can set the whole area of analysis and coordinates map of the sample. Then, with our 3D reconstruction technology, a pattern os structured light is porjected over the whole painting, getting texture information and 3D profile of the sample.

Once this step is completed, the system can perform automatic analysis of areas of interest. With a 3 motorized axis positioning system, it guides the high magnification system precisely where it is needed a deeper inspection. Then we use microscopy to get detailed visual analysis of the area, and also we provide DFD technology to get even more information about whatever problem that could be present in the painting.
Microscopic inspection is linked to image analysis software, in which we can identify and charcaterize and sort shapes, particles and colour and make precise measurements of these objects or artifacts, scratches or damages. DFD technology is used to make a fully detailed 3D model of the area os interest. With this information, deformations and surface dirt can be identified, or any imperfection in varnish or paint that could be useful for the analysis of the painting.

With the best software designed for this application with automatic control of the whole analysis process, it can be fully automated and it can reveal information about the paint and color distribution, texture, thickness and 3D profile of the surface, detect defects or damages and store all that information to help in the process of conservation. Friendly user interface and easy to use, with no damage to the sample.
The ultimate tool for faster and better painting analysis!
