Digital Microscope Quality Inspection Platform

The Micro-Eye ™ is a unique, powerful and versatile digital microscope system which can be used for a wide variety of applications. The instrument has all the features required for a modern high quality microscope, i.e. superb images, user friendly, highly functional and adaptable set-up, ingenious, practically and superb illumination, many add on accessories, comprehensive data management and sophisticated images analysis software. All of this comes at a reasonable and affordable price.

Microscope set-up

A typical configuration of a Micro-eye system is depicted in the diagram on the right. The central unit of the system is a 6X zoom lens with a rotary inspection head with build in LED illumination. On top of the lens a camera is mounted. A control box powers and controls the camera, rotary head and LED illumination. A notebook can be linked with the camera.

Microptik 360 degree inspection system Micro-Eye lens with rotation head

Lens with head

The Micro-Eye is equipped with a high quality 6X zoom lens, allowing magnifications from 50X till 300X. With the highest magnifications particles smaller than 10 micron can be detected. The unique tunable LED ring is integrated in the microscope head, allowing specimen to be inspected with best possible illumination.

360° inspection:

The Micro-Eye 360 is ideal for producing videos that can demonstrate detail of (micro) structures. The system consists of a heavy duty stand with a continuous zoom microscope (50X - 300X) including 360° rotation head. The rotation mechanism has a mirror system that allows an image to be formed from a 360° perspective of the specimen. This is particularly effective for electronic circuit boards and similar objects with depth.

Stand and Accessories
For the Micro-Eye, we provide high quality stand and accesories. When mounted on our motorized Z axis and using our XY table, the Micro-eye system can be used to inspect a complete sample at various positions and in different ways. In this way the 360° inspection gets a complete extra dimension! We offer also sophisticated robot configurations to inspect an object in any way the customer wants.

Micro-Eye 360 system

Microptik 360 degree analitic setup configuration example

The Micro-Eye 360 has an excellent high resolution miniature CCTV camera (795 x 596 pixels) that delivers an analogue image through a USB 2.0 conversion unit allowing imaging on a laptop computer. The camera is directly mounted on top of the microscope. This unit is fixed in the holder of the manual adjustable microscope stand for focussing on the object.
The 220V operated control box manages the static, clockwise or anti-clockwise motion of the rotation head, the intensity of the LED illumination and also provides the power for the camera.
The resolution of the dynamic 6X zoom microscope is less then 10 micron at highest magnification.
Via the USB 2.0 signal converter the 360° image is shown on the screen of the note book. The recording software runs under Microsoft Windows making it easy to review and edit the recorded video to incorporate it in reports and quality inspection data files.
This very practical and user friendly piece of optical inspection equipment has very specific applications in screening of manufactured items and quality control at relatively high magnification. To demonstrate the 3D nature of the videos produced by the Micro-Eye 360 a series of images (on the right) from a rotational PCB scan are shown.
The 3D video views of the objects under inspection are easily recorded and stored. With the supplied software the video 'clips' can also be edited for reporting purposes either in timeline or storyboard mode. The stored recordings will open in your Windows video player software.

The Mirco-Eye digital microscope set-up is created from the Micro-Eye 360 by removing from the rotary head the mirror section. The 6X zoom lens has then a working distance of 80mm and the Field of View at 300X is 1100 µm and becomes larger with lower magnification. Image stability is achieved with our superb versatile and rigid stand. It is designed to accomodate accessories for a wide range of sample types requiring i.e. back lighting (with LED or Metal Halide lamps), x-y manipulation, hot/cold stages, etc.. Special requirements? Our engineering is ready to support you. All the software is pre-installed and tested making it a plug and play system when installing at the inspection site.

The MIMAS software was developed with the daily time pressure of the quality inspector in mind. User friendliness is the key word for the 2 dimensional measurement package which results in faster quality reporting. The results can easily be imported in quality inspection reports. 2D parameters which can be calculated are shown in the diagram

For particle analysis the morphometric parameters are very convenient. The software offers a sophisticated methodology to characterize the different particles in accordance to their morphometry.
